About E&E Designs

The interior decoration of this room was undertaken by E&E Designs. Being the “living” end of a large country kitchen with a stone floor used frequently for informal entertaining, the client wanted a warm and inviting room. We therefore designed the rug to pull together all the various colours. The upholstered stool, built by a trusted craftsman long known to us, has a deep bullion fringe selected to pick out the blues in the room and the natural colours of the stone floor and fireplace.

A rug adds considerable warmth to a bedroom. This is a customised design to complement the existing colour scheme of the room.

Simple and creative ideas for a child’s bedroom: this is a further example of how customised rugs can be designed for any situation, here adapting a curtain motif into a fun and cheerful child’s rug. Other designs have even included a client’s beloved dachshund on a runner in her hall.

Replacing old friends! Many of us have much loved rugs that have been passed down through the generations which sadly have become threadbare, or simply a liability because they have holes in them. It is very simple for us to create a virtual replica of existing rugs. These two commissions were designed for a client based upon existing rugs that had worn out.

The inspiration for this rug design came from a sample of Indian fabric. The client wanted a repetitive design which would not be spoilt by the large central stool in the middle. We therefore produced this design which married the darker colours from the urns, pictures and furniture, with the paler greens of the sofas.

This rug is well-suited to a dining room as the most striking part of the design is around the edges which are more visible.

Virtually any design can be created, demonstrated by these family crests, with colours matched accurately to the original archives. In the example on the left, we selected an element of the crest to break up the empty background. Below, as an example of attention to detail, several colours were used in the curved row of pearls to give them depth.

This is an example of a modern rug design in a hall that is in constant use. For this reason, darker colours were chosen to be practical.

Also designed by E&E Designs, this room incorporates a discreet cinema in the eaves of a garage building. Being a fairly dark room, our client wanted to brighten it up with vibrant colours. The feather design was the idea of their daughter embarking on her Art GCSE. It was an easy task to translate the outline of the feather motif into a computerised rendering showing the overall design.

This rug was created for a client who wanted to cover a large expanse of polished wooden floor in a formal drawing room. It adds warmth and colour, without hiding the charm of the existing floorboards.

Below is a selection of commissions undertaken by E&E Designs which portray how varied they can be. Please pass your computer mouse over any picture to see an enlargement.

This light coloured rug helps to lift the room, while the brown border picks up the colours of the African paintings.
